Stoke on Trent and the surrounding areas have never had their own dedicated Air Ambulance.
We have always had to rely completely on helicopters which also serve 6 million people in Birmingham and 3 million people in Manchester.
With such a massive area to cover it is understandable why they are often busy saving lives elsewhere when we need them in this area.

Stoke Air Ambulance are here to change that and provide faster, life saving treatment to those who need it most. Saving time, saves lives!
Jasper
Uttoxeter’s schools are joining together to raise £10,000 towards purchasing a brand new air ambulance.

Our helicopter is going to be called JASPER and will be a lovely bright blue colour called ‘Wedgewood Blue.’ The name and the colour obviously link to Wedgewood and is a way of celebrating a famous part of our community.
What will the benefits be?
A locally based lifesaving air ambulance that will be able to support Uttoxeter within 6-8 minutes and covers a 10-mile radius including Stafford, Stoke, Nantwich, Crewe, Sandbach, Congleton, Leek and of course Uttoxeter
- Direct and swift access to a trauma doctor on board Jasper within 6 minutes
- Patients can be stabilised, monitored and transported to Royal Stoke Hospital within 6 a minute flight
- Direct access to the Royal Stoke Hospital helipad
- ALSO, 6-8 critical care responder blue lighted vehicles
- The aim within 3 years is to have a second air ambulance helicopter to support and cover an even wider area

What is our aim as a community?
To raise £10,000 to support this project becoming reality. How amazing will it be to see Jasper flying overhead in the future and know that we have supported this life saving equipment and personnel in the air and on the way to help someone in need.
How is Picknalls going to fund raise?

We have already planned a few events to support this. We are going to do an Easter Fair, a Duckling dash (sponsored walk) and a cake sale.
Mary Dorrington, Community First Responder, will be organising a Giant Uttoxeter Raffle. Tickets will be available to purchase from Picknalls and all other local schools.
Emergency Services Extravaganza Day!
On Monday, 23rd June, Picknalls is hosting celebratory Emergency Services Event and inviting all our local schools to join in. Thanks to our expansive grounds we will be able to have:
- Fire service vehicles and firefighters that support our community. Children will be able to sit in the appliances, try on the uniform and even have a go with the fire hose.
- Police service emergency vehicles, police and PCSOs that support our community. Children will have a talk from the police and be shown some of the vehicle and police equipment and be able to ask questions.
- Ambulances and first responder vehicles, paramedics and first responders. Children will have a talk from the personnel, be shown the equipment and be able to ask questions
Grand Finale
Here’s the most, well almost the most, exciting part!
If we have managed to raise £10,000 between all of us JASPER will take its FIRST EVER MAIDEN FLIGHT over Uttoxeter and will land on the field at Picknalls First School !!!!!!
BUT…. (ok, here’s the MOST exciting part!)…
If we raise £15,000 Jasper will take a member of staff from the school that has raised the most AND the child of the family that has raised the most on the helicopter for a flight!!!!!!!
What an opportunity. The winning school and child on board Jasper will do a fly over all the local schools so that anyone not able to attend the event at Picknalls will still see Jasper on its maiden flight.
