Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Information
Children and young people with SEN may need extra help because of a range of needs.
Paragraphs 6.27 – 6.35 of the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice set out four areas of SEN:
- Communicating and interacting – (e.g. speech, language and communication difficulties)
- Cognition and learning – (e.g. difficulties with organisation and memory skills)
- Social, emotional and mental health difficulties – (e.g. difficulty in managing their relationships with other people)
- Sensory and/or physical needs (e.g. visual and/or hearing impairments, or a physical need that means they must have additional
ongoing support and equipment)
Some children and young people may have SEN that covers more than one of these areas.

Our SEN team work hard to provide the best possible support for all pupils. Our support staff offer intervention programs to give pupils the extra practice and reinforcement they need, this may be done in the pupils classroom in a 1:1 situation or in small groups withdrawn from the class. Our teachers and support staff work closely with parents and outside agencies (e.g. speech and language therapists, physiotherapists etc) to ensure that all our pupils are equipped with the best possible strategies to enable them to be independent learners to the best of their ability.
